Cerro de las Campanas, Gueretaro. At this site, in 1867, the liberal government of Benito Juarez executed three opponents from the conservative party: Emperor Maxilmillian de Hapsburgo, General Miguel Miramon, and General Tomas Mejia marking the end of the second French intervention in Mexico. Not to be outdone, Benito Juarez had a massive statue of himself erected in basalt above this memorial ... to the victor go the spoils!
