The Anthropology Museum, Mexico City. A mural depicting the orginal site of Mexico City and its four main entrance / egress roads. This is what Mexico City looked like to Hernando Cortez when he "discovered the New World". The city's water supply was furnished via an aqueduct which can be seen down the center of the middle road in this mural. The surrounding lake was subsequently drained making way for expansion to accommodate the current city and surrounding neighborhoods of 25 million people. Being built on landfill, Mexico City is subject to settling and frequent severe earthquakes.
