San Miguel de Allende. A street vendor displays Mexican silver wares. Although consideraly lower in volume than in its hayday, high quality silver is still extracted from some of the local mines. Silver is actually quite soft and must be mixed with a slight amount of other metal such as copper thus enabling it to retain its shape.
