La Villa de Guadalupe and the Basilica on the Avenue of the Americas. Originally, this was the site of a shrine to a mother goddess. The conquistadors destroyed the original chapel and adopted the location into a parrish eventually building the Old Basilica (to the left) that was completed in 1709. Due to a sinking foundation, a New Basilica was constructed next to it (right) from 1974 to 1976 creating a dichotomy of old and new.
